Alleppey/Alappuzha Backwater
Alappuzha or Alleppey nick named as "Venice of the East" by Lord Curzon during the British period is a beautiful town located in Alappuzha District of Kerala India.Known for its Backwaters Aleppey is one of the best place in the world to experience Backwaters. In the world tourist map, this place is well known for its houseboats, beaches and lakes. It is situated in the Central Travancore region. This district is also known as Alleppey and the administrative headquarters is Alappuzha town.

The major tourists drop in the month of august and September during the Nehru Trophy boat race that happens in this district. It is to be noted that between June to September, this region faces heavy rainy season. If the tourists are comfortable with rainy season then these particular months are also a wonderful months to visit Alappuzha. It is to be remembered that summer season isn't too hot in this region. Therefore even summer months are regarded as holiday season apt for tourist in this particular district.

The city is located in the plain areas with no hills surrounding it. Alleppey is situated 62 kilometers (39 mi) to the south of Kochi and 155 kilometers (96 mi) north of Trivandrum.
